Amidst the rumors swirling of the upcoming GalaxyFest Celebrations, the mostly defunct Shili Free Press announced an intention to cover the event; this announcement temporarily ends their withdrawal from the galactic press pool. Shili Free Press responded to questions about their odd re-emergence into the news genre via comments from Chairman Emeritus, Lahasa Fy.
"The governments of the galaxy spew their propaganda about being saviors to the people they oppress and how their enemy is corrupt, evil, ill-conceived and other similar insults. Their loyal citizens gobble it up, without desire for any real impartial voice. Meanwhile, their enemies ignore it or brush it off as lies. In the end, the sum total of the galactic news feed is not about information and facts which citizens desire, but only about feeding the ego of those in control of the state media outlets. However, events like GalaxyFest, this is what the people want to know more about. While Shili Free Press stopped covering galactic news, we remained active locally, especially during the turmoil of the betrayal of Shili by Galen Darksol. Our resources on Shili and in the Ehosiq sector are well placed to provide assistance for covering this major event in a nearby sector. We are glad to provide support for journalism surrounding an event worth covering."
The obese Togruta laid out what is currently known about the event. Slated to start on or about day 257 of this year in the Bright Jewel sector, the event will feature performances and exhibitions of skill. The crowning attraction will be the midway of carnival games based on human cultures from millennia ago. Participants in these games will earn tickets that can be redeemed to approved vendors for prizes. The headline prizes appear to be sole development rights to three nearby moons.
In an advisory to those planning to make the journey, all visitors to the system will need to check in at a grand space station in orbit. Attendees will be ferried down to the surface for the event. Private ships shall not be allowed to land in an effort to spare the environment of the currently unidentified host planet from the ruinous accumulation of abandoned assets that seem to plague host planets of the Uli-ah Gafsa Memorial Swap Meets.
As alluded to previously, it is interesting that the exact location of the festival is still unclear. The event has been accurately reported to be occurring within the Bright Jewel sector. However, in discussion with the chieftains of the Aleena home-world, Aleen, it has been confirmed that it will not be held in their system. Shili Free Press scouts and reporters are currently scanning the sector looking to locate the base for the festival. With any luck, we hope to reveal the exact location to the galaxy soon.
Until then, stay safe out there and see you at GalaxyFest.
