Skree are native inhabitants of asteroid fields and are a type of antagonist that have appeared in several folk songs and tales over the millennia. Roosting from asteroids, these predators will quietly build their nests as they wait for prey. Once prey enters the area under its roost, the Skree will proceed to dive-bomb the intruder, resulting in either the Skree disabling it or the Skree escaping by disappearing into the asteroid field. 

A recent overpopulation crisis has resulted in swarms of Skree leaving their nests to forage the galactic trade routes, infest mining colonies, and commandeer space stations. Rumors of Skree hives openly selling contraband adjacent to active combat zones are of particular concern to the authorities, and any sightings should be reported immediately. While doing business with the Skree can be very lucrative, it is a crime in many jurisdictions and is best done out of sight.
